There are two main factors pertaining to your comfort.: (1) Temperature – we advise customers to set their thermostat where it is most comfortable to them.

The pan under your unit, called the auxiliary pan, should always be dry. Water in this pan could be the result of a clogged primary drain pipe connected to your evaporator pan inside your unit. Clear Comfort can provide treatments as a prevention to this common problem. You could have a refrigerant issue causing ice to form inside your unit.

Almost any problem you find with an inoperable unit will require professional service from Clear Comfort. We do have some suggestions as to things you can check. Check your breakers and make sure they are not tripped (toggled between the off and on position) or turned off. Check to see if there is water in your auxiliary pan under the indoor unit.

One of the first and most common places to check for a blank thermostat is the auxiliary pan located under the indoor unit. Water in this pan will usually cause this pans switch to open the circuit for the thermostat and systems low voltage. Simply rinsing the outdoor coils thoroughly will help with removing dirt and grass from the coils. Keeping the coils clean is very important in maintaining proper air flow across the coils that directly effects the system efficiency and capacity. Dirt and debris on the coils will prevent the necessary heat exchange for proper system operation.

Two things commonly suggested that are “easier said than done” is: adjust the cooling setting higher and the heating setting lower. Close blinds or drapes in the summer to windows and glass doors that the sun is shining through to reduce. Turn off lights when not being used.
